I am the Digital Preservation Officer at University of Alberta and responsible for all aspects of internal preservation operations and representing the University on external preservation partnerships. I have over ten years of experience in the area of information systems and in the past I have worked at Dalhousie University, McMaster University, Reason Technologies, Softsource Inc., University of Management and Technology and Bata International.
My research interests are mainly in the areas of information systems, databases, information retrieval, search engines, recommender systems, digital libraries, digital preservation, web caching and data clustering. In the past I have also worked on NSF funded research projects in the area of digital libraries and recommender systems.
I have taught courses at graduate as well as undergraduate level in Canada, USA and Pakistan. My teaching career has mainly focused on teaching courses in the areas of information systems, computer science and business administration. I also taught corporate training and certificate courses at several places in the field of information technology.
Additionally I have seven plus years of software development experience. It includes work for the planning, development, implementation and management of information systems. I have experience in latest tools and technologies including ASP.Net, C#, Visual basic, C, C++, Java, SQL, MS Access, SQL Server, My SQL, Oracle, Endeca, MDex, SAS , SPSS, HTML, XML. This experience has enabled me to utilize my technical and interpersonal skills in new and challenging ways, piquing my interest in the use of technology. I am adept with the use of learning technologies and can easily adapt new trends and use it for teaching, learning and research.
