During my childhood in Sargodha, Pakistan, my warm and loving family provided a strong foundation through which they guided my direction, enforced discipline, inspired excellence, established ethical and humane value systems, and instilled good judgment. Above all, my home was a place of endless love, but fortunately, even outside the home, my school helped reinforce and complement my parents’ efforts. I, however, had an insatiable desire to seek, wonder, and learn. My highly developed social, moral, and intellectual base eventually enhanced my capacity to succeed in a competitive and dynamic society and provided me with the freedom to explore different passions and interests.

In high school, I excelled in mathematics and became a firm believer that the true universal human language is composed of numbers. While numerical characters may vary across the globe, the logic they convey transcends borders, localities, and customs, and I longed to have the same transcendent ability. My love for the reach and power of numbers inspired me to pursue a career in Information Systems. My research interests are mainly in the areas of information systems, databases and information retrieval including search engines, recommender systems, digital libraries, web caching and data clustering. In the past I have also worked on several research projects in the area of digital libraries and recommender systems.

I have taught courses at graduate as well as undergraduate level in Canada, USA and Pakistan. My teaching career has mainly focused on teaching courses in the areas of information systems, computer science and business administration. I also taught corporate training and certificate courses in the field of information technology. 

Additionally I have ten plus years of software development experience. It includes work for the planning, development, implementation and management of information systems. I have experience in latest tools and technologies including ASP.Net, C#, Visual basic, C, C++,  Java, SQL, MS Access, SQL Server, My SQL, Oracle, Endeca, MDex, SAS , SPSS, HTML, XML. This experience has enabled me to utilize my technical and interpersonal skills in new and challenging ways, piquing my interest in the use of technology. I am adept with the use of learning technologies and can easily adapt new trends and use it for teaching, learning and research.
